Top Moment #2B Volleyball Comes All the Way Back to Win Sectional

Louisville Leopards GlenOak Golden Eagles Volleyball Tournament 2011

Volleyball Sectional Final Louisville Vs. GlenOak Highlights

2B. Volleyball Comes All the Way Back

First off, I have to admit that it is pretty much a dead tie between this moment and the next moment I will be releasing in the next few days.  After wrestling with it, I finally made the decision release this #2 Moment first.

Wow what a game this was!  After a heart-breaking Senior Night loss to Minerva a week before, the Lady Leopards were looking for redemption in the DI Sectional Finals against the GlenOak Golden Eagles.

On October 20, at Lake High School, the Lady Leps stormed out to a 24-18 advantage in the Beatty's Sports Gear Up For Football Seasonfirst set.  But then disaster struck as Louisville watched GlenOak reel off six straight points to tie the set at 24-24.  After a back-and-forth affair, the Golden Eagles took the set 28-26 and carried momentum into the second set which they won 25-17.

Things looked bleak for our girls in blue, but all was not lost.  One point at a time is how the Lady Leopards approached the third set which they took in a flurry 25-19.  With poise and without panic, Louisville jumped out to a 12-4 advantage and eventually won the fourth set 25-18.  All even…new ball game.

With a Sectional Title on the line in one final set, the Lady Leps thrived.  The Golden Eagles won the first point of the set, but Louisville took the next 4 on a side out and off 3 serves by Maddie Gramoy.  The Golden Eagles scored again to make it 4-2, but then Louisville hit home ten consecutive scores led by Danielle Baker’s serving.  GlenOak claimed one final side out to make the score 14-3.  But then a dig by Baker, a set by Gramoy, and a kill by Jordan Monnot followed.  Game…set…match…ELATION!  After being backed into a corner, the Lady Leps successfully fulfilled the unthinkable!

Offensively, Baker would finish the night as the top server with 13 points, Molly Brown would lead the team with 13 kills, and Gramoy ended the night with 38 assists.  Brown also led the team defensively with 22 digs.  Louisville Volleyball completed the 2011 campaign 15-9, 10-4.
