Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball Team 2018-2019

DI Canton District Tournament Tournament

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team was voted the 5th Seed for the DI Canton District Tournament and earned a Sectional Semifinal bye. They will play the 4th Seed Green Bulldogs on Thursday, February 21 at 7:00 PM in the Sectional Finals.

The Lady Leopards hosted the Lady Bulldogs back on January 9. Green prevailed for the road win in that matchup 61-44 . Louisville has fallen to Green in their last 4 meetings overall including a 57-40 home tournament loss in the 2016 DI Walsh University Sectional Semifinals. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 7-3 overall which includes 2-1 mark in the postseason. However, the series is even at 1-1 in games played at Green. The Lady Bulldogs compiled a record of 10-8 coming into the draw.

The GlenOak Golden Eagles were voted #1 overall seed with a 14-2 overall record coming into the draw. GlenOak voted Louisville the 8th Seed, the lowest of any team vote in the District. Every other team voted the Lady Leopards as either the 5th or 6th seed. Its possible this was done strategically to knock Louisville down to the #6 seed and put them on the other side of the bracket, but the maximum and minimum voted seed for each team was deducted from the results to eliminate extremes. Either way, if the Lady Leopards can pull off the upset at Green, the Golden Eagles would be their likely opponent in the District Semifinals played at Canton Memorial Fieldhouse on Monday, February 25 at 6:00 PM.

Louisville has played 6 of their 10 potential Sectional/District opponents in the regular season and holds a 2-4 record against them. Both victories came early on in the season as the Leopards defeated 8th Seed Perry 48-43 on December 5 and won at 9th Seed Massillon 38-35 on December 10. The Lady Leopards lost to 6th Seed Lake 55-39fell to 2nd Seed North Canton Hoover 59-50, and fell at 3rd Seed Jackson 38-35 all before Christmas.

Louisville is 43-42 all-time in tournament play which includes a 4-11 record since 2008 when they entered Division I.
