Louisville Falls to Hoover in 1st Regular Season Meeting Since 2001 – Girls Basketball

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting North Canton Hoover Vikings 59-50 Saturday Afternoon at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 4-5 on the year.

Erin Hahn made all of the Lady Leopards 3 three-pointers and scored a team-high 17 points. She also recorded a game-high 3 blocks and 2 steals on defense. Kayla Gibson poured in 16 points to go along with a team leading 6 rebounds. Paige Cole also scored 12 points to go along with 5 rebounds and a game leading 3 steals.

The two teams combined for 40 points in the first quarter that saw Hoover take a 22-18 advantage. The scoring quieted down in the second as North Canton extended their advantage to 32-26 by halftime. The Vikings outscored the Leopards 17-13 in the third to take a double digit lead into the fourth quarter that slightly favored Louisville 11-10.

Peyton Davis scored a game-high 24 points and Annie Roshak racked in 21 points to lead Hoover. Roshak also finished with 4 rebounds and 2 blocks. Kelsey Kinsley rounded out the top scorers for the Lady Vikings with 6 points and had 4 boards.

North Canton held a 27-25 edge in rebounds for the game including a 21-12 advantage on the defensive boards. Kate Haubert pulled in a game-high 9 rebounds to lead the Vikings efforts. 

Hoover’s key to victory came from their efficient shooting from the floor. Despite putting up 13 less shots that Louisville, the Vikings held a 52% (21 of 40) to 33% (18 of 53) advantage in field goal percentage. This included making 5 of 9 (55%) attempts from beyond the arch.

With the loss, the all-time series between Louisville and North Canton Hoover is now tied 21-21 which includes an even 11-11 record in games played at LHS. The Lady Vikings have won the last 10 meetings overall dating back to 1994 and last 4 at Louisville.
