Leopards Nipped By Polar Bears on the Road 38-35 – Girls Basketball

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell in a close contest against the host Jackson Polar Bears 38-35 Saturday Afternoon at Jackson High School. With the loss, Louisville falls to 4-7 on the year.

Maggie Galentine hit all three of the Leopards 3 pointers and scored 10 of her game-high 16 points in the first half to lead Louisville. Sherilynn Mullett also scored 7 points and Paige Cole added 6 for LHS.

The Polar Bears jumped out to a 17-9 lead at the end of the first, but the Leopards rallied to cut the deficit to 24-20 by halftime. Louisville’s best quarter was the third when they outscored Jackson 12-7 to take a 32-31 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Polar Bears would dominate the final period as they held the Leopards the only a single field goal in the final eight minutes. Louisville trailed just 36-35 and had possession with 20 seconds remaining, but they were unable to connect to take the lead. On the other end, Alayna McMullen tacked on a pair of free throws with 0.5 seconds remaining to clinch the victory for Jackson.

The Polar Bears were led by Dretke who scored 8 of her team-high 12 points in the first half. Stran also scored 9 and McMullen tallied 7.

The Leopards have now lost their last 5 games against the Polar Bears, all of which were played at Jackson. Louisville now trails the all-time series 15-23, which includes a 5-17 mark at JHS.
