Lady Leopards Dethrone Dukes 11-0 – Girls Soccer

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Soccer Team blanked the visiting Marlington Dukes 11-0 Saturday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With their third straight victory, Louisville improves to 4-1-1 on the season.
Schillig Records 1st Half Hat Trick
Alyssa Schillig registered a hat trick in the first half to lead the Lady Leopards. Payton Allan and Reese Riley also added a pair of goals each in the opening half as Louisville took a 7-0 advantage in just the 25th minute.
Kasey Lint added the final goal of the first half with 2:31 to play as the Lady Leopards headed into the break with a comfortable 8-0 lead.
Lady Leopards Reach Double Digits
Louisville tacked on three more goals as the clock ran non-stop in the second half. Alivia Youngen, Maddie Manley, and Lola Lucas all put the ball in the net to increase the Leopard lead to 11-0.
The 11 goals marks the 11th time Louisville has reached double figures in goals scored in a single game. The total is tied for the fourth most in team history and second most at home in team history.

Lingenhoel Registers Game High 3 Assists
Alissa Lingenhoel recorded a game leading 3 assists for the Lady Leopards.
Overall 10 of Louisville’s 11 goals were assisted. Allan, Reagan Biery, Haile Folk, Violet Lab, Lint, Lucas, and Payton Sheldon also notched 1 assist each.
Edgein Ties Record with 5th Straight Shutout
Goalkeeper Tristyn Edgein recored her fifth consecutive shutout to tie the team record. The 2013 Lady Leopards strung together five straight shutouts with Becca Springman in goal.
The streak was put to the test in the first half when Allie Gill took a penalty kick for Marlington in the 16th minute. Gill lined a shot toward the right-center of the goal. Edgein knocked it away to her left. Gill followed up on the deflection, but her second chance shot missed wide of the goal and the goose egg remained on the Dukes’ side of the scoreboard.
Edgein was named player of the game by her coach and YSN.
Lady Leopards Tie All-Time Series with Dukes
Louisville was once 0-8-1 against Marlington before they defeated the Dukes for the first time in 2012. With the victory Saturday, the series is now even at 10-10-2 after 22 meetings between the two rivals.
The Lady Leopards have now defeated the Lady Dukes in three straight meetings and have taken 10 of the last 13 matchups overall. Marlington still holds a 6-4-1 edge when playing at Louisville in the series.
