Harris Rings Up Record 13 as Softball Ambushes Aviators
Louisville 15, Alliance 1, 5 Innings
The Louisville Lady Leopards blew past the host Alliance Aviators 15-1 in 5 Innings Thursday Evening at Union Title Field. With the victory, Louisville evens their overall record at 4-4 and stays an unbeaten 4-0 in NBC play.
Pitcher Morgan Harris led the Lady Leopards by pitching a complete game and striking out a school record 13 batters for a run-rule shortened game. Harris struck out the side in 3 of the 5 innings she pitched and at one point fanned 6 straight Alliance batters. Her effort fell a single strikeout short of the school record of 14 set by Brittany Flanigan at Canton McKinley on April 16, 2012.
At the plate, Emily Cantley led Louisville by batting 3-for-4 with a 2-Run Homer, 2 runs scored, and 4 runs batted in. Her third home run of the season came in the fourth inning and thumped off the roof of the batting cage beyond the right field fence to cap the Lady Leopards 15-run performance.
Katie Cozy also batted 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, 3 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in for Louisville. Peyton McKeever & Savannah Miner also each had a double & 3 RBIs, and Aliyah English hit a 2-run double for the Lady Leps. Louisville finished 16 of 33 at the plate as a team.
With the victory, the Lady Leopards have now downed the Lady Aviators 11 straight times, including their last 6 meetings at Alliance. Louisville now leads the all-time series 19-5 and is 9-3 when playing at AHS. The Lady Leps have now also won 56 straight conference games.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Salem Quakers on Friday, April 17 at 4:30 PM.
