Louisville Falls to #8 Ranked Lake on Senior Night 65-47

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting #8 ranked Lake Blue Streaks 65-47 on Senior Night Wednesday at Louisville High School. Louisville has now lost their last four games and falls to 13-8 on the year.

Haren Pours in Game High 21 to Lead Leopards
Senior Brooke Haren scored 11 of her game high 21 points in the third quarter to lead the Lady Leopards. She would also finish a perfect 6-of-6 from the line in the game.
Junior Courtney Barwick also hit double figures with 10 and junior Riley Walters made a pair of three-pointers to finish with 6. Other scorers for Louisville included sophomore Taylor McCully with 5, sophomore Maggie Baker with 3, and junior Chay Cline with 2.
Johnson Scores Game High 21 for Lake
Senior shooting guard Serenitee Johnson scored 12 of her game high 21 points in the second half to lead the Lady Streaks. Sophomore point guard Savanna Horning also made 4 three-pointers and finished with 14.
Lake would finish with four players in double figures. The other Blue Streaks in double digits included sophomore point guard Hayden Croyle with 12 and senior forward Paige Marshall with 10. Senior shooting guard Emma Anderson also scored 8 to round out Lake’s scoring.
The Blue Streaks got off to a fast start taking a 22-7 lead at the end of the first quarter. Louisville would outscore Lake 13-12 in the second and 18-17 in the third quarter to get within 51-38 at the end of the third.
The Blue Streaks would outscore the Lady Leopards 14-9 in the final quarter and cruise to victory. Lake is now 18-2 on the season with the win.
Leopards Vs. Blue Streaks Girls Basketball Series
The Leopards had defeated the Blue Streaks in each of the last two seasons coming into Wednesday’s contest. This was Lake’s first victory at Louisville since a 55-39 win on in 2018.
The Lady Leopards still lead the all-time series 27-21 overall dating back to their first meeting in 1975. Louisville also holds a 13-8 edge over Lake when playing at home in the series.

Haren and Wasara Honored for Senior Night
Prior to the game, the Lady Leopards honored their two seniors Brooke Haren and Lexi Wasara for Senior Night. Each embraced teammates, coaches, and walked with their families down the center of the court.

UP NEXT:The Lady Leopards will next travel to Youngstown to take on the Cardinal Mooney Cardinals on Saturday, February 10. JV will begin at 11:00 AM and Varsity will follow around 12:30 PM.
