The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team defeated the visiting Canton McKinley Bulldogs 71-67 in front of a capacity crowd of 1500 Friday Night at Louisville High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 16-2 on the season.

Gross Scores Career High 29 to Lead Leopards

Equitable Advisors - Bryce MathieJunior forward Brayden Gross scored 8 of his career high 29 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Leopards. Gross was consistent throughout the contest scoring 7 in the first, 8 in the second, and also 6 in the third.

Senior guard Hayden Nigro and junior point guard Beau Siegfried also finished with 15 points each. Siegfried hit 2 of his 3 three-pointers and poured in 10 in the fourth quarter. Nigro also finished with 8 of his 15 points in the first half.


Sims Jr. Scores Team High 22 for Bulldogs

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdJunior shooting guard Reed Sims Jr. scored 14 of his team high 22 points in the second half to lead the Bulldogs.

Senior shooting guard Je’cis Moody also scored 11 of his 19 points in the fourth quarter for Canton McKinley. Sophomore point guard Davey Thompson made a pair of three-pointers and scored 8 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter as well.

The Federal League leading Bulldogs fall to 11-4 with the loss. Canton McKinley had won 5 straight games coming into Friday.


Louisville’s 1st Win Over McKinley in 64 Years

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe victory is the Leopards first over the Bulldogs since the 1960 tournament. Louisville edged Canton McKinley 45-44 in the Class A Sectional Tournament on March 3, 1960. 

The Bulldogs won the previous 11 meetings in the series from the 1971-72 season through last season. Canton McKinley leads the all-time series 12-2 dating back to their first meeting in 1947. The Leopards are now 1-3 when hosting the Bulldogs at Louisville High School since 2016.
