The Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer Team shutout the host Canton Central Catholic Crusaders 5-0 Saturday at Lowell Klinefelter Field. With the victory, Louisville has won 4 of their past 5 matches and now holds a 7-4-1 record for the season.
Sophomore goalkeeper Amelia Henderhan recorded a pair of saves and earned her 9th career shutout in goal for the Lady Leopards. With the shutout, Henderhan surpasses Kylee Symmons (8 – 2004) for most career shutouts in team history.
Louisville was led on offense by sophomore Gracie Bush and junior Morgan Keelan who scored a pair of goals each. Bush now has 3 goals on the season, while Keelan ups her team-high total to 23 on the year.
Senior Gabby Smith also recorded her 10th goal of the season for the Lady Leopards. However, this wasn’t the first time she had scored against Central Catholic at Lowell Klinefelter Field this year. Smith also booted home her first extra point as kicker for the Louisville Varsity Football Team the night before in their 34-20 victory over the Crusaders.
The Lady Leopards continued to show off their chemistry and depth as 5 of the 6 goals were assisted by players who didn’t score goals of their own. Freshman Natalie Lab led Louisville with a pair of assists. Others recording assists for the Leopards included junior Emily Kirby, junior Morgan Mayle, and senior Emilee Mueller.
Louisville dominated from start to finish in holding a 19-2 advantage in shots and a 6-2 edge in corner kicks.
With the victory, the Lady Leopards have now defeated the Lady Crusaders in their past four meetings overall and in each of the past three seasons. Louisville now leads the all-time series 5-1 overall, which includes an undefeated 3-0 mark in games played at Central Catholic. This is the first time the Lady Leopards have shutout the Crusaders since their first meeting in 2004, which was a 1-0 victory.
