DI Uniontown District Volleyball Tournament 2017
The Louisville Leopards Volleyball Team drew the #8 Seed out the 14 teams in the DI Uniontown District Volleyball Tournament draw Sunday. Louisville will play the #9 Seed Marietta Tigers on Tuesday, October 17 at 5:00 PM in the DI Uniontown Sectional Semifinals.
The Marietta Tigers Volleyball Team holds a 12-8 record on the season according to Maxpreps. According to our records, Louisville and Marietta have never met on the volleyball floor before and the two teams do not have a common opponent this season. The Tigers were in the DI Uniontown District back in 2014 before dropping to the Division II Chillicothe District the last two seasons. Back in 2014, Marietta defeated Canton McKinley in five sets before getting swept by eventual District Runner-Up GlenOak in the Sectional Finals. The Tigers also fell in the DII Sectional Finals in 2015 and 2016 against the Athens Bulldogs and Gallia Academy Blue Devils.
The winner of Tuesday’s contest gets rewarded by playing the top seeded Jackson Polar Bears in the DI Uniontown Sectional Finals on Thursday, October 9 at 5:30 PM. The Polar Bears are currently 18-1 on the season with their only loss coming against Brecksville-Broadview Heights 25-19, 25-20 in the NE Ohio Power Volleyball Tournament on September 23. They have won seven straight matches since that loss and have only surrendered a single set in the process. Jackson is currently ranked 10th in the latest DI Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association Poll.
