Leopards Claim Second Straight City Cup, Conquer Knights 7-2

The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team claimed their second straight “City Cup” with a 7-2 victory over the crosstown St. Thomas Aquinas Knights Thursday Evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. Louisville finishes the preseason with a record of 8-1 with the victory.

Louisville dominated the first half in outscoring St. Thomas 4-0 heading into the break. The Knights responded by cutting into the Leopard lead less than 14 minutes into the second half. Christopher Coto scored off a pass from Andrew Jenkins in the 44th minute. Then Antonio Vitale gained control and crossed a shot into the top left corner of the net in the 54th minute.
Louisville clamped down to shutout Aquinas the rest of the way. They also added three goals to their cause to take the game 7-2.
Six of the Leopards 7 scores were assisted. Zeller tallied 2 assists, and both Jordan Davis and Hunter Foley had an assist each.
Louisville won the City Cup last year 4-0 at Sirpilla Field. They celebrated their second straight win in the newly created series by hoisting a trophy in the locker room.
