Furious Louisville Comeback Forces 4-4 Tie With Lake

Louisville 4, Lake 4

The Louisville Lady Leopards scored three goals in the final 26:28 to force a 4-4 tie with the visiting Lake Blue Streaks Monday evening at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the tie, the Lady Leopards are now 8-1-1.

The Blue Streaks jumped out to a 3-0 advantage, which was the same margin they won by a year ago. However, Louisville’s Rachel Baughman snuck in a goal with just one minute remaining before halftime. Her score deflected in off of a Lake defender after a pass from the left corner by Sarah Jaroszyk to make the score 3-1 at the break.

Lake added an insurance goal a little over six minutes into the second half and they would need it. Beatty's Sports Under Armour Summer 2013 AdLouisville answered back at the 26:28 mark after excellent long passes by Kelly Miller, Jessica Hamsher, and a lead pass by Baughman. Lizzy Mont blazed by a Blue Streaks defender to catch up to the final pass and tapped it past the goalie and into the net for her fifth goal of the season.

The Lady Leopards struck again when Jaroszyk blooped a shot from the far left side of the field, over the head of the goalie, and into the net. The goal was her second of the season and it got Louisville within one of Lake.

At the 4:51 mark of the second half the comeback was complete. Jaroszyk pushed a pass ahead that deflected off Mont. A Blue Streaks defender then kicked it away to the far left side again where Baughman kicked the ball up several times before getting a touch on it. She then blasted it into the top right corner of the net to tie the game at 4-4.

With the tie, Louisville snaps an eight game losing streak to Lake and is now 1-8-1 all-time against the Blue Streaks. Lake had previously outscored Louisville 20-1 in the past three meetings. The Lady Leopards four goals are the most they have ever scored against the Lady Streaks.
