Softball Goes Yard Against Lake 9-2
Louisville 9, Lake 2
Grace Jackson batted 2-for-3 with a Solo homer in the first inning and 2-run homer in the sixth inning to lead the Lady Leopards. The second dinger was Jackson’s 9th of the season and 30th home run of her career. Peyton McKeever also cracked a 2-run home run to left-center in the fifth inning. The bomb was her second roundtripper of the season. Louisville has now hit 17 home runs as a team this season.
Earlier in the fifth inning, Rylee Squire drove in Aliyah English. In the fourth inning, Kaycee Ollis singled home Leandra Givens and Teagan Rice doubled in courtesy runner Riley Bobo in back-to-back at-bats. Rice also scored in the third inning when English reached on an error.
In the circle, Sarah Cantley pitched a complete game, gave up 2 runs on 6 hits, and struck out 6 to earn the victory in the circle. Cantley shutdown the Blue Streaks until the sixth inning when they broke the shutout with a pair of runs.
Abby Butler doubled to center field to lead-off the Lake sixth and advanced to third after a single by Jaelyn Meade. Butler then came home via a sacrifice fly by Mackenzie Mauller. Jordan Meade then drove home Jaelyn Meade for the second Blue Streaks run.
Lake’s Maria Mokler also finished with 2 of the Blue Streaks 6 hits. Givens also had 2 infield hits for the Leopards.
With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Lake 4 straight times and has defended home field against the Blues Streaks in 5 of their last 6 meetings. The Lady Leopards still trail the all-time series 16-29, which includes an 8-14 mark at Louisville.
