McCully and Several Lady Leps Take NBC Honors

After a 13-0 start and a final record of 20-3, Lady Leopards Girls Basketball Coach Garee McCully was named Coach of the Year for the NBC.  Both Senior Alyssa Jones and Junior Brianna Libertore made the All-NBC 1st team as well.

McCully, who just finished his third season at Louisville, led the Lady Leps to an outright NBC championship and Sectional Championship after two previous seasons of of 8-13 and 13-8.  Louisville surpassed both preseason favorite Minerva and girls basketball powerhouse West Branch in the standings by a single game.

Seniors Lauren Bricker (left) and Alyssa Jones (right) both received NBC honors.

Jones led Louisville in scoring by averaging 12.0 points per game, while also grabbing the second most rebounds (6.4 per game through 21 games) for the 2011 NBC Champs.  She was only eclipsed in rebounding by Libertore (over 8 rebounds per game), who also tagged just behind Jones in points per game at 11.7, and recorded 6 double-doubles.

Also, Juniors Molly Brown and Mackenzie Storlie received second-team All-NBC honors.  Brown averaged 6.3 points per game, grabbed plenty of rebounds, and shot 47.5% from the field.  Storlie finished second in the county with 5.7 assists per game, while also averaging 8.0 points per contest.

Also receiving honorable mention for Louisville was Senior Lauren Bricker and Sophmore Clara Lemmon.  Lemmon led the team in field goal percentage at 48.5%.

The Lady Leopards had a great season and the future looks even brighter with several honored players returning next year.
