Special Teams Takeaway Sets Up Aljancic Touchdown

Equitable Advisors - Bryce MathieAfter a stalemate for a quarter and a half, Louisville caught a big break on special teams. New Philadelphia’s Carson Long hauled in Gabe Stoffer’s punt at the 12 yard line and ran left. Luke Seaman jarred the ball free while storming in for the tackle and Jacob Paumier pounced on it for the Leopards at the 3 yard line.

Quarterback Tate Aljancic found the endzone on the next play to give Louisville its first lead of the season. Aljancic also booted home the extra point to make it 7-0 Leopards with 4:36 remaining in the first half.

Fausel Leads New Philadelphia Comeback

Romeo's Pizza Louisville, Ohio AdQuarterback Keaton Fausel ran the ball 21 times, amassed 136 yards on the ground, and scored 2 touchdowns to lead the Quaker comeback.

New Philadelphia answered Louisville’s touchdown with a scoring drive of their own just before half. The Quakers started in Leopard territory after Long’s 33 yard kick return was further aided by a 15 yard facemask penalty on Louisville. A few plays later, Fausel converted a 3rd-and-4 on a 5 yard pass to Pete DiDonato. Later in the drive, Fausel ran for 14 yards to convert a 3rd-and-8 before running left for an 8 yard touchdown on the next play.

Louisville special teams came up big again on the extra point attempt. Kolton Loy was able to penetrate the right side of the Quakers’ line and extend to block the kick attempt leaving the the score 7-6 with 19 seconds remaining before half.

The first five possessions of the second half ended in three-and-outs as the two teams continued to battle for field position. New Philadelphia finally took the lead with a 3 play, 55 yard scoring drive that needed just 26 seconds. Kolston Fox brook loose for a 44 yard run down to the Leopard 11. Fox would finish the night with 8 carries for 58 yards. Fausel ran right for a touchdown on the next play to put the Quakers back in front.

Leopards Unable to Capitalize in Quaker Territory

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdLouisville drove into New Philadelphia territory twice in the fourth quarter, but was unable to breach the NPHS 30. The Quakers snuffed out a QB draw on a 4th-and-2 attempt that resulted in a 6 yard loss back to the New Philadelphia 40.

The Quakers looked the ice the game on their next drive, but Seaman stripped another New Philadelphia ball carrier. Cooper Rice fell on it for the Leopards in pristine field position at the New Philadelphia 45 yard line.

Louisville netted just one yard on their next two plays and a 3rd-and-9 pass fell incomplete. With 3:20 remaining and one timeout, the Leopards elected to punt the ball back to the Quakers.

On second down, Keaton Fausel burst ahead for a 10 yard first down run to all but seal the win for New Philadelphia. The Quakers were able to run the remaining time off the clock without punting the ball back to Louisville.
