Louisville Falls at Keystone, Mauls McDowell – Varsity Softball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team fell to the Keystone Wildcats 11-1 in five innings Saturday at LaGrange Community Park. With the loss, Louisville drops to 2-2 on the season.
Stillwagon Breaks Up No-Hitter
The Lady Leopards were held hitless until senior first baseman Lauren Stillwagon singled to lead-off the top of the fifth inning. She then advanced to second and third on a pair of passed balls. After junior left fielder Katie Porter walked and stole second, freshman right fielder Brooke Haren grounded out to the pitcher scoring Stillwagon from third to cut the Louisville deficit to 6-1.
While the Leopards avoided the no-hitter and the shoutout, it didn’t stop the Wildcats from ending the game early. Keystone scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to go ahead by 10 runs and run-rule Louisville.
Cassell Strikes Out 7 for the Wildcats
Pitcher Lily Cassell pitched 5 innings, surrendered 1 run on 1 hit, and struck out 7 to earn the win for the Wildcats.
Both right fielder Jessica Gerhardinger and first baseman Kennedy Kerr finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double and a pair of runs scored to lead Keystone’s offense. Second baseman Jessica Chapman, centerfielder Jalyn Owca, and pinch hitter Ashley Wolfe also drove in two runs each for KHS.

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team mauled the McDowell (PA) Trojans 14-4 in their second game of a tri-header at LaGrange Community Park Saturday Afternoon. With the victory, Louisville improves to 3-2 on the season.
Benson and Collins Drive in 5 Runs Each
Junior third baseman Jenna Collins batted a perfect 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and 5 RBIs to lead the Lady Leopards. Freshman shortstop Matti Benson also went 3-for-5 with a double and five runs batted in for Louisville.
After being held to just 1 hit against Keystone, the Lady Leopards pounded out 14 runs on 13 hits against the Lady Trojans. Seven different Louisville batters registered hits and seven different LHS runners crossed the plate.
Louisville Builds Early Advantage
Senior first baseman Lauren Stillwagon extended her hitting streak to 5 games and recorded 3 RBIs. She drove in Collins to put the Lady Leopards in front 3-0 in the first inning. Then she smashed a 2-run double in the second inning to give Louisville a commanding 8-2 second inning advantage.
Freshman catcher Kenzie Denzer also batted 2-for-4 with a triple, senior centerfielder Kaylee Nolte scored 3 runs, and second baseman Shelby Mayle drove in a run to round out the Lady Leopards other offensive highlights.
Heath Notches 1st Varsity Victory
In the circle, Katie Heath pitched a complete game giving up 2 earned runs on 7 hits and striking out a pair. The victory was the first of Heath’s varsity career at LHS.
McDowell Highlights
Right fielder Maggie Hoover, first baseman Meghan Kapp, and third baseman Ally Leonard also recorded 2 hits each to lead McDowell. Leonard scored on an error in the first inning to get the Trojans on the board. Pitcher Alivia Soule singled in Kapp in the first inning and Kapp singled in left fielder Taytum Lavarone in the second inning for the only McDowell RBI hits. Lavorone later sacrificed home Soule in the third inning for McDowell’s only other run.
This was the first ever meeting between these two team teams in varsity softball.
