Lady Leopards Fall at Top Seed Jackson, Finish 10-7-1 – Girls Soccer

The #17 seed Louisville Leopards Girls Soccer Team was shutout by the host #1 seed Jackson Polar Bears 4-0 in the DI Northeast 2 Sectional Finals Thursday Evening. With the loss, Louisville finishes the season with a record of 10-7-1.

Sophomore goalkeeper Amelia Henderhan recorded a tournament team record 25 saves to lead the Lady Leopards. She finishes her sophomore season solidifying her single season saves record with 229 and also the LHS career mark with 352. According to OSSCA, Henderhan is far and away the leader in Division I for saves statewide in 2020 leading the second place goalkeeper by 81 (Grace Kostohryz of Wooster finished with 148).

Samantha's Grill AdCaitlin Bruni scored a pair of first half goals to lead the Lady Bears. Ashley Parsons recorded assists on both goals in the 23rd and 29th minutes of the game. Parsons shot off the crossbar was put back for the opening score of the contest. Bruni’s second goal came off a pass from Parsons as Jackson rode a 2-0 lead into the break.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer AdThe Polar Bears would tack on two more goals in the second half in punching their ticket to the district semifinals. Catalina Gonzalez-Abreu scored via a Marysa Starcher assist in the 56th minute. Starcher then scored herself with only 1:10 left to play to put Jackson ahead 4-0.

This is the second straight year the Lady Leopards have fallen to the Lady Bears by the score of 4-0 in a sectional final. Louisville is now 0-3 all-time against Jackson with all three games played in the tournament and at JHS.
