Lady Leopards Earn 1st Sweep at Canton McKinley – Volleyball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team earned their first sweep of the season in a 25-18, 26-24, 25-18 win over the host Canton McKinley Bulldogs. With the victory, Louisville improves to 3-15 on the season.
Lady Leopards Stat Leaders Vs. Bulldogs
Junior setter Addison Burick guided the Lady Leopards offense with a team leading 31 assists. Junior Brooke Haren also had a team high 10 kills and junior opposite hitter Sloane Sypolt finished with 9 kills.
Louisville was led on defense by senior libero/defensive specialist Kait Kardohely who recorded a team best 15 digs.
Louisville’s 1st Win Over McKinley Since 1976
This is the first known meeting between the Leopards and Bulldogs in volleyball since 1992 when the two teams competed together in the Midview Invitational. Although our volleyball records are incomplete, the last and only other time that Louisville defeated Canton McKinley in volleyball came in 1976. The Lady Leopards defeated the Lady Bulldogs 2-1 in that match.
The win snaps Louisville’s six match losing streak to Federal League foes. The Lady Leopards last win over a Federal League school came at Perry 25-22, 23-25, 27-25, 25-18 over a year ago on October 2, 2001. Louisville finishes the regular season 1-5 against Federal League opponents with the victory.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders on Thursday, October 6. Freshman will begin at 4:30 PM, JV will follow around 5:30 PM, and Varsity will conclude the evening starting around 7:00 PM.
