The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team built a 6-1 lead and rolled to a 6-4 victory over the Louisville Alumni Friday Night at Louisville Leopards Stadium.

All Three Adams Brothers Notch Goals

Jenny Can Cleaning AdJunior Brady Adams scored a goal in each half to lead the Louisville Varsity. Adams got the Leopards on the board first early on in the ninth minute via an assist by fellow junior Angelo Paquelet. The same junior combination would score what would be the deciding goal late in the 54th minute as the Leopards built a 5-1 advantage.

Riley Adams (Class of 2021) matched his younger brother’s score with a goal of his own at the 13:46 mark of the first half to knot the game at 1-1. He found the back of the net via a cross pass from the eldest Adams’ brother Bailey Adams (2018 Alum).

Bailey Adams would become the third brother to score via an assist from Matt Perez (Class of 2017) with 14:30 left in the second half.

In the 2021 Alumni Game, Bailey and Riley both netted goals to help the Alumni clinch their first victory since the inaugural 2013 Alumni Game. Brady flipped the script in this year’s contest by scoring a pair of goals which proved to be the difference in the final outcome.

Leopards Build 6-1 Advantage

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdUnlike a year ago, the wheels came off early for the Alumni squad after they battled the varsity team to a 1-1 tie into the 28th minute. However, Louisville struck twice in the final 12:13 of the first half to pull ahead 3-1 by halftime. Junior Drew Dillen gave the Leopards the lead back via an assist from sophomore Kadan Swope. Then freshman Carter Burton provided the assist for sophomore Nick Johnston’s goal with 6:06 to go in the opening half.

In the second half, Louisville tacked on three more goals in a span of less than six minutes to take a commanding 6-1 advantage. Dillen provided the assist to Paquelet’s goal in the 50th minute. Paquelet then assisted Brady Adams’ second goal four minutes later.

The Leopards final goal came 77 seconds later and caused some confusion. Senior Ian Darrow delivered a pass to sophomore Dominic Porter-Kovacich near the left sideline. Porter-Kovacich took a shot off the pass and the ball rocketed into the goal. However, when it bounced it found its way through a hole in the net. From the angle of the crowd, it appeared the ball had just missed the net because it ended up on the main concourse of the stadium. Nevertheless, it counted in the official score to put the Louisville Varsity in front 6-1 with 24:45 to play.

Smith Scores a Pair of Goals for Alumni

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe Alumni didn’t go down without a fight. Bailey Adams’ goal in the 66th minute broke the Leopards string of five straight goals scored. The Alumni would scored twice more in the final 9:04 as Austin Smith (Class of 2022) netted scores in the 71st minute and 77th minute to cut the deficit to 6-4.

The game was even more intense in the final minutes as the stadium scoreboard still posted a score of 5-4. Regardless of the debated advantage, the Louisville Varsity defense shutout the Alumni the rest of the way to prevail for their first win over the Alumni since 2019.
