Boys Soccer Rallies Back to Force Alumni Game Draw
Louisville 7, LHS Alumni 7
The Louisville Leopards rallied from a 6-1 second half deficit to tie the Louisville Alumni Team 7-7 Saturday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. Kyle Mayle headed home a goal off a corner kick by Matt Perez just before the final whistle to force the draw.
Earlier the Leopards scored five consecutive second half goals to tie the contest at 6-6. Bradley Terra setup the first three scores of the run with assists to Alex Stefanik, Hunter Foley, and Travis Pape. The Alumni lead was then shrunk to 6-5 after Pape added his second consecutive goal for Louisville.
After that, Perez knotted the game up at 6-6 via an assist from Jack Strzyzynski. Perez also scored the only Leopard goal of the first half off an assist from Mayle.
Logan Henkel gave the Alumni the lead in the final minutes after receiving a pass from Kyle Baker. This was one of just two Alumni goals in the second half as Michael Lautner assisted first year Alum Austin Terra just two minutes out of the break.
The Alumni dominated the first 35 minutes in taking a 5-1 halftime lead. Cody Gotshall scored the first two goals for the graduates and Corey Wilson hit home the next two scores. Their only other score came on an own goal. Harrison Raub and Baker also contributed with first half assists.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Jackson to take on the Polar Bears & the St. Vincent-St. Mary Irish in a Tri-Scrimmage on Saturday, August 8 beginning at 9:00 AM.
