Leopards Crash Fleet of Aviators: Baseball, Softball, Tennis All Win

Louisville 1, Alliance 0

For the second straight day a Louisville pitcher hurled a one-hitter against Alliance.  Mike Kelly pitched a complete game one-hit shutout, struck out nine, and walked only one setting up a wild last of the seventh.  Chris Duckworth doubled to start the scoring threat.  Then Riley Groves laid down a sacrifice bunt, but Alliance pitcher Nathan Rice threw the throw to first into right field.  Duckworth scored on the play ending the game and leaving Louisville alone atop the NBC (Louisville 5-1, Marlington 4-1, Minerva 3-1).  Despite a 12 strikeout performance Rice was handed the loss for Alliance, who had previously been undefeated before the Leopards beat them in back-to-back nights.

The Lady Leopards bounced back from an excruciating defeat at home with a solid shutout win over the Aviators.  Brittany Flanigan dominated by throwing a complete game shutout and striking out six en route to her fourth victory of the season.

The offense cracked the goose egg in the top of the fourth inning when Shelby Swigert doubled in Chandler Rice.  Swigert quickly completed the rest of her journey when Ashley Horton singled her home soon after to give Louisville a 2-0 cushion after the fourth.

Later, Jordan Monnot led off the top of the sixth with a double and then Swigert grounded a sac bunt that moved her to third.  Then Horton delivered her second RBI single in as many at-bats to give Louisville a 3-0 lead that they would never relinquish.
