Freshman Leopards Blow Past Quakers 48-12

Louisville Leopards Freshman Football 2014 Helmets Raised

Louisville 48, Salem 12

The Louisville Leopards Freshman Football team scored five touchdowns in the first half en route to a 48-12 victory over the visiting Salem Quakers Thursday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville is now 2-2 overall and 1-0 against NBC foes.

Drew Doerschuck did it all for the Leopards returning an interception 48 yards for the opening score, running in a touchdown from 5 yards out, and scoring the final touchdown of the contest on a 66 yard kick return touchdown.

Eerily, Doerschuk was not the only Louisville Player who had an MVP-like performance. Gavin VanZant Beatty's Sports Nothing is Given Shirt Full Size Adscored on touchdown runs of 30 & 8, forced a fumble on defense, and converted 6 of 7 extra point kicks. Louis Johnson had 2 of Louisville’s 3 takeaways on defense as he recorded a fumble recovery and an interception. All three of the Leopards takeaways were turned into touchdowns.

BJ Singer also caught a second quarter touchdown pass from Trent Degenhard. Dylan Walczak punished the Quakers defense all evening long and finally found the endzone on a 2 yard run midway through the third quarter. The touchdown drive was setup by a 44 yard Jack Davis to Singer connection.

On defense, Dan Bailey recorded a sack and Doerschuk, Johnson, Satchel Strickmaker, and Walczak all recorded tackles for a loss. Zach Thatcher also laid out the leather early on in the contest with a pulse-pounding hit for no gain.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next host the Carrollton Warriors on Thursday, September 25 at 5:00 PM.
