Lady Leopards Set New Team Scoring Records

Jenny Can Cleaning AdLouisville amassed an 18-0 advantage through the first three minutes of play en rout to taking a 35-5 lead at the end of the first quarter. The 35 points scored by the Lady Leopards set a new team record for points scored in a single quarter. It eclipsed the old mark of 33 points scored in the opening quarter at Youngstown Chaney earlier this season during a 75-15 win over the host Cowgirls

Louisville continued to add to their lead in the second quarter as they outscored Youngstown Chaney 23-9 to take a 58-14 lead into the half. The 58 points tallied by the Lady Leopards also set a new all-time team high mark breaking the previous record of 52 for a half during a 79-29 home victory over the Alliance Aviators on January 21, 2017.

Louisville Seniors Return Midway Through 4th

After another dominate quarter, Louisville sat comfortably ahead of Chaney 76-21 at the end of the third. The starters were pulled and the Leopards went into stall mode for several minutes, which appeared to put an end to any record-breaking hopes.

At the 4:36 mark, Louisville Head Coach Chris Esterak put the seniors back into the game to play for a few more minutes with the score remaining the same at 76-21. The Lady Leopards didn’t hide what they were trying to do as each player furiously and selflessly worked to get Mullett the basketball to break the school record.

Mullett Breaks Record After Late Push

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdMullett scored 12 points in the opening quarter and then 8 in each of the next two periods to give her 28 heading into the fourth. With three quick baskets after reentering, Mullett tied Amanda Jaeb’s second highest mark of 34 points with still more than three minutes to play in the game.

The basket also set a new team record for most points scored in a home game at 82. LHS had previously defeated Carrollton 81-24 on January, 17, 1990 and Jackson 81-47 on January 20, 1981 within the confines of Louisville High School. Although unconfirmed, the Jackson game is believed to be the game in which Louisville alum Kerri Strobelt set the individual single game team mark for most points scored with 37.

Sophomore Taryn Miglich then heaved a deep pass down to Mullett who had broken free towards the hoop. She caught the ball in stride and laid it to up her total to 36 points.

After another defensive stop and a Louisville timeout, Mullett drew a foul underneath the hoop with two minutes to play. She hit the first free throw to tie the school record at 37, but was unable to hit on the second. The ball bounced off the rim several times before sophomore Delaney Orin came up with the offensive board for the Leopards. She quickly passed the ball to Mullett who was cutting down the right side of the lane. Her ensuing shot missed the mark, but deflected off a Chaney player giving the ball back to LHS.

Miglich inbounded the ball to Mullett who began backing in on a Cowgirl defender toward the hoop. Mullett then quickly shifted course spinning into the center of the lane. In one smooth motion she hit her target while being fouled. The Louisville bench erupted in celebration knowing she had set a new school mark for points in a game with 39. At the same time she also made her school record 18th field goal of the game and the Lady Leopards set a new team record with 87 points in a single game.

Louisville Sets Record for Points in a Game

Louisville’s 87 points eclipsed a 29-year-old team record set by their last District Championship Team. The Lady Leopards won 85-24 on the road at Canton South on January 22, 1992 while setting the old mark.
