Lady Leopards Set Single Half Scoring Record in Win Over Alliance

Louisville 79, Alliance 29

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team scored a team record 52 points in the first half on their way to a 79-29 victory over the visiting Alliance Aviators Saturday Afternoon at Louisville High School. With the win, Louisville improves to 11-4 overall and 9-1 in NBC play.

Danielle Walter scored 13 of her game-high 17 points in the opening quarter to lead the Leopards. Sarah Lairson recorded a solid stat line of 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Both Alexa Oberster and Alexis Beaver added 10 points each for Louisville as well.

The Lady Leopards outscored the Lady Aviators 29-6 in the first quarter and 23-4 in the second quarter to pull ahead 52-10 at the break. The 52 points scored is now the known Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball team record for points in a single half. The feat eclipsed the previous known mark of 49 points in a single half which they set at Alliance on December 20, 2010 during an 84-14 road victory.

Louisville dominated by out-rebounding Alliance 38-13, which included a 20-3 edge on the offensive boards. Oberster was the Leopards top rebounder with 7. As a result, Louisville put up 76 field goal attempts in shooting 43% (33 of 76) compared to the Aviators 32% (10 of 31) performance.

The Lady Leopards also dominated on the defensive end as they recorded 26 steals. Ellie Jackson led these efforts with a game-high 7. Louisville also dished out 22 assists in the game on offense. Abby Beaver finished with a game-high 7 to go along with 4 steals of her own.

Alliance was led by Morgan Davis who scored a team-high 14 points. Marissa Nickson also scored 7 and Raelynn Thomas finished with 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists. The Lady Aviators drop to 1-13 on the year and 0-10 in the NBC.

With the victory, Louisville has now defeated Alliance in 17 straight meetings including the last 8 at home. The Lady Leopards now lead the all-time series 40-8 overall, which includes an 18-4 mark at LHS.

UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to Quicken Loans Arena to play against the Saint Joseph Academy Jaguars on Friday, January 27. JV will begin at 2:00 PM and Varsity will follow around 3:30 PM. Check with LHS to see if there are tickets still available.

The Lady Leopards JV team dominated the visiting Lady Aviators 49-4 Saturday Afternoon at LHS. With the victory, Louisville improves to 11-3 with a 7-2 mark verse NBC foes.

Ten different Lady Leopards scored baskets during the contest led by Morgan Cole who finished with a game-high 12. Jenna Agnone also dropped home 8 and Kayla Gibson added 7 for Louisville.

The Leopards stormed out to a 21-0 lead in holding the Aviators off the scoreboard for the first 11:26. Louisville proceeded with another 21-0 run in blanking Alliance for a span of nearly 15 minutes into the fourth quarter.

Jaz’ana Lawson and Seandelia Jones each scored field goals for the Lady Aviators.
