Winning Streak Snapped at Green, 3rd Longest All-Time

Ryan Shepherd Louisville Leopards Tennis

Green 4, Louisville 1

They say all good things must come to the end and Louisville’s 14-game winning streak was no different.  At Green, the Leopards fell to the Bulldogs 4-1 Wednesday evening in recording their first loss since their opening game against North Canton Hoover on March 26.  The #2 doubles team of Ryan Shepherd and Michael Thomas recorded the Leopards only victory in the match by a count of 6-4, 7-6 (7-4).

The Leopards 14-game winning streak is the third longest in school history and the undefeated 17-0 team of Beatty's Sports Baseball Shirt 2012 Spring Sports Logos1979 is the only Leopards team to have a streak longer within a single season.  Here’s a look at the longest winning streaks in Leopards Boys Tennis history:

  • 24 – 1978-80
  • 16 – 2003-04
  • 14 – 2012
  • 13 – 1983
  • 12 – 1984-85, 1990-91, & 2001
With the loss, Louisville is now 5-2 all-time against Green, but the Bulldogs have taken the last two matches.  The Leopards will look to get back on track Thursday when they travel to Salem to play the Quakers.  A win will give Louisville the NBC Title outright.
