Haren Scores 1000th Point, but Lady Leopards Fall to Pioneers – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting Western Reserve Academy Pioneers 67-42 Wednesday Evening at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 10-4 on the season.

Haren Scores 1000th Career Point
Senior Brooke Haren scored 8 of her team high 14 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Leopards. Haren scored 6 points in the first half, but was held scoreless in the third quarter as Western Reserve Academy built a commanding 50-26 lead heading into the final period.
Haren caught fire early on in the fourth quarter and scored 6 quick points in just 2:17. Sophomore Sammi Beatty threw a pass from the backcourt to Haren who was heading toward the hoop on the other end. Haren was fouled on the play sending her to the line for a pair of shots with 5:12 remaining in the game.
Haren swished her first shot from the charity stride and the crowd erupted. The free throw was the 1,000th point of her career. Haren was embraced her teammates and was celebrated by her coaches with a poster signifying her accomplishment. An announcement of the feat was broadcast over the public address system and the Pioneers players also congratulated Haren in an act of great sportsmanship.
Haren returned to the stripe and sunk the next free throw to finish 8-for-8 from the line for the game.
Barwick Finishes with 13 for Lady Leopards
Junior Courtney Barwick scored 11 of her 13 points in the opening quarter She hit a three-pointer and was also a perfect 4-for-4 from the line in the period. Barwick’s first quarter effort kept Louisville to within 19-15 at the end of the first quarter, but it was all Western Reserve After that.
Other Lady Leopards scorers included junior Riley Walters with 5, junior Chay Cline with 4, and sophomores Violet Lab & Taylor McCully with 3 points each.
Moore Pours in 24 for Pioneers
Junior guard Islay Moore scored 13 of her game high 24 points in the second half to lead the Lady Pioneers. Moore hit 6 of her team’s 11 three-pointers during the contest.
Sophomore guard/wing Brooklyn Hall scored 15 of her 17 points in the first half as Western Reserve Academy led 37-19 at the half. Hall cashed in on pair of three-pointers in the opening half as the Lady Pioneers stunned the Lady Leopards with 7 first half three-pointers.
Senior point guard Jadyn Brenneman also finished with 8. Both senior guard Angelina Agresta and junior guard Jordyn Steindl added 6 each.
Western Reserve Academy has now won three straight games and improves to 9-2 on the season with the victory.
Louisville Vs. WRA Girls Basketball Series
The Lady Pioneers have now defeated the Lady Leopards in back-to-back seasons. The series is now tied 2-2 overall dating back to 2021, which also includes an even 1-1 mark in games played at Louisville. .

Lady Leopards Snap Home Win Streak
The loss is the Lady Leopards’ first of the season at Louisville High School. Louisville was 8-0 at home coming into the matchup and had won its last 14 regular season home games dating back to last season.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next travel to take on the Perry Panthers on Saturday, January 13. JV will begin at Noon with varsity following around 1:15 PM.
