The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer Team shutout the visiting Minerva Lions 10-0 on Senior Night Tuesday at Louisville Leopards Stadium. With the victory, Louisville is now 3-2-1 on the season.
Senior Riley Adams scored 5 goals and Freshman Brady Adams delivered 4 assists to lead the Leopards offense. Riley Adams has now scored a team leading 10 goals on the season and Brady Adams has recorded a team best 6 assists on the year.
Five different Louisville players found the back of the net in the game. Freshman Drew Dillen and junior Kael Mickley finished with a goal and assist each. Other goal scorers included junior Mason Foley, sophomore Tanis Murray, and senior Blake Varner. Senior Maddox Drake-McKimm also added a pair of assists for the Leopards.
Senior Joe Reynolds and freshman Noah Emmons combined for the shutout in goal to lead Louisville on defense.
Adams Bros. Just Shy of Single Game Records
Both Adams brothers came up just shy of tying single game team records. Riley Adams nearly tied his own single game goals record of 6, which he has accomplished twice previously (Bailey Adams, their older brother, also holds this mark). Riley also surpassed Ricky Minster (42 goals in 2003-2004) for the second most career goals scored in team history now with 47.
Brady Adams needed just one more assist to tie Logan Henkel’s record of 5 assists in a single match set in 2010.
Louisville Vs. Minerva Series History
The Leopards have now shutout the Lions in each of the past two seasons and now lead the all-time series 12-9-1. This is far and away the most lob-sided game in the series. Louisville had never scored more than 5 goals against Minerva previously and the last time that happened was in 2000, the inaugural season of the program. The Leopards now lead the series when playing at home 5-4 and have now shutout the Lions 4 times overall.
