The Louisville Leopards Boys Soccer earned a 4-1 road victory over the host Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary Fighting Irish late Saturday afternoon at John Cistone Field. With the victory, Louisville now holds a winning record at 5-4-1 on the season.
Senior Riley Adams scored a pair of first half goals as the Leopards opened up a 3-0 halftime lead. Adams got Louisville on the board via a penalty kick midway through the first half. This was the 50th goal of Adams’ career, but he didn’t stop there. Later in the half Adams found the back of the net again via an assist from junior Kael Mickley. The goal was his team-leading 14th of the season as the Leopards roared into the half with a three-goal advantage.
Junior Mason Foley scored Louisville’s other first half goal setup by an assist from senior Maddox Drake-McKimm. Foley now holds the team’s second highest goal total for the season with 4. Leopard freshman Drew Dillen also scored his third goal of the year in the second half via Mickley’s second assist of the game. That put LHS ahead 4-1 late and they cruised to victory after that.
Mason Niskanen scored the only goal for the Fighting Irish via a penalty kick after Louisville was called for a hand ball. Other than that, Leopards junior goalkeeper Joe Reynolds was perfect recording 9 saves while earning the win. St. Vincent-St. Mary goalkeeper Nick Bertolini also recorded 9 saves.
The Leopards are now 2-0 against the Fighting Irish all-time with their only other meeting a 3-1 home victory in 2019.
UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Massillon to take on the Tigers on Tuesday, October 6 at 6:00 PM.
