Louisville Rallies to Earn 1st Win At Hoover Since 2019 – Volleyball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Volleyball Team rallied for a five set 14-25, 25-19, 26-24, 17-25, 15-13 victory over the host North Canton Hoover Vikings Wednesday Night on the Dick Snyder Court inside Hoover High School. With their fifth straight victory, Louisville triples its win total from a season ago improving to 15-5 on the season.
Burick Registers 50 Assists
Senior setter AJ Burick recorded a team high 50 assists to direct the Lady Leopards offense. Senior outside hitter Brooke Haren also finished with a team best 17 kills and junior setter/defensive specialist Madie ElFaye was Louisville’s leading server with 8 service points.
Junior defensive specialist Riley Walters led the defense with a team leading 13 digs.
Leopards Turn the Tide in 3rd Set
The Lady Leopards dropped the opening set 25-14, but rallied to knot the match up with a 25-19 win in the second set. The Lady Vikings appeared to snatch momentum back in the third set taking a 20-14 advantage. However, Louisville rallied back to tie the game at 24-24 and took the final two points of the set to take a 2-1 match lead.
Hoover took the fourth set 25-17 to force a fifth set. The Lady Leopards took command from the start of that set and built advantages of 12-7 and then 14-10. North Canton was the beneficiary of a few controversial line judge calls that could have closed the match. The Lady Vikings got to within 14-13 as a result before Louisville scored the match point to clinch the victory.
