Lady Leopards Downed By Dukes 56-45 on Road – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Marlington Dukes 56-45 Wednesday Night at Marlington High School. With the loss, Louisville falls to 3-8 on the season.
Senior Sherilynn Mullett recorded a double double in pouring in game-high 19 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and tallying 5 steals to lead the Lady Leopards. Junior Aubrey Thorne also dropped in 8 points and sophomore Taryn Miglich added 6 points. Each of Louisville’s top three scorers also made 2 three-pointers each.
Evanich Leads Marlington With Team-High 18
Freshman Chelsea Evanich scored half of her team-high 18 points in the first quarter to lead the Lady Dukes. As a result, Marlington took a 13-7 lead in the second quarter and then doubled up the Leopards over the course of the next two periods to extend their advantage to 47-24 at the end of three quarters.
Louisville went out fighting in the fourth quarter in which they outscored the Lady Dukes 21-9. The Lady Leopards made 5 of their 8 three-pointers for the game in the final stanza, but their rally would come up short as Marlington prevailed 56-45.
Dukes Snap Losing Streak Vs. Leopards
Other top scorers for the Lady Dukes included senior Allison Lacher with 9 and sophomore Lexi Miller with 8.
With the win, Marlington snaps a three-game losing streak against Louisville. The series is now tied 3-3 in their last 6 meetings overall. The Lady Leopards still lead the all-time series 69-20, which includes a 35-8 record in games played at MHS.
