The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Saint Joseph Academy Jaguars Saturday Afternoon. With the loss, Louisville falls to 3-9 on the season.

Senior Sherilynn Mullet scored 9 of her game-high 13 points in the first half to lead the Lady Leopards. Senior Paige Cole scored in every quarter and finished in double figures with 10. Juniors Kelsey Adelmen and Kendal Loy also added 6 points each for Louisville.

Jaguars Run Erases Leopard Early Lead

Samantha's Grill AdBack-to-back three-pointers by Cole and Mullett gave the Lady Leopards a 10-6 lead at the midway point of the first quarter. A layup by Cole a few possessions later then put Louisville up 12-8.

Momentum shifted after that and the Jaguars strung together an 8-0 run over the final 2:40 of the first quarter to take a 16-12 lead. Saint Joseph Academy then doubled up Louisville in the second quarter with the help of a 9-2 run to close the first half that put them ahead 30-19.

Louisville 10-2 Run Answered By St. Joseph

Jenny Can Cleaning AdThe Leopards opened up the second half on a 10-2 run to cut the Jaguar lead to 32-29, but that’s as close as they would get the rest of the way. Saint Joseph Academy ended the third quarter on a 9-2 run in response to pull ahead again by double digits 41-31.

The two teams played even in the fourth quarter with each scoring 8. The Jaguars prevailed by double figures 49-39 as a result.


Adler and Elbert Lead Jaguars with 10 Each

Saint Joseph Academy (8-7) was led by senior Charlotte Adler and junior Ryan Elbert who both scored a team-high 10 points. Junior Ella Neitzel also finished with 8 to round out the Jaguars top scorer.

Louisville is now 0-2 all-time against Saint Joseph Academy. Their only other meeting took place at Quicken Loans Arena with the Jaguars winning 47-39 back on January 27, 2017.
