The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the host Lake Blue Streaks 48-26 Wednesday Night at Lake High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 13-5 on the season.

Barwick Leads Leopards With Game High 14
Freshman shooting guard Courtney Barwick made a pair of three-pointers and finished with a game high 14 to lead the Lady Leopards. Sophomore guard Brooke Haren also finished in double figures with 10 and senior forward Aubrey Thorne added 7 for Louisville.
The two teams battled back and forth at the onset before the Lady Leopards ripped off an 8-0 first quarter run. Junior guard Taryn Miglich and Thorne made back-to-back three-pointers at the end of the run to put Louisville ahead 12-5 and before leading 13-7 at the end of one.
The Lady Leopards expanded their lead to double digits after scoring the first 7 points of the second quarter. This was part of a 12-2 Louisville run that propelled the Lady Leopards to a 26-11 halftime advantage.
Louisville extended their lead to 33-13 midway through the third quarter before surrendering a three-pointer to Lake sophomore shooting guard Serenitee Johnson. The Leopard defense held the Blue Streaks scoreless from the floor for nearly a quarter’s worth of time in response. Louisville put the game away with an 11-1 run during that span, which gave them their largest lead of the contest at 44-17.
Johnson Scores Team High 12 for Blue Streaks
Johnson made a pair of three-pointers and finished with a team high 12 to lead the Lady Blue Streaks.
Senior forward Julia Slates scored all 7 of her points in the second half and junior guard Abbey Hance hit Lake’s only other three-pointer to round out their top scorers.
Louisville Vs. Lake Girls Basketball History
The victory snaps the Lady Leopards two game losing streak against the Lady Streaks. Louisville now leads the all-time series 26-20, which includes a 13-11 edge when playing at Lake. The 26 points scored by the Blue Streaks is their lowest in the series since the first meeting between the two LHS teams, a game the Lady Leopards won 40-24 back on January 23, 1975.

Louisville is now 1-4 against Federal League schools this year. The Lady Leopards also secure a winning regular season road record with the victory. They are now 6-4 in away games for the campaign with only a trip to Canton Central Catholic on February 10 left on the road schedule.
UP NEXT: The Lady Leopards will next host the Northwest Indians on Friday, February 4. The Lady Leopards Varsity will host the Lady Indians at 5:30 PM followed by the Louisville Boys Varsity hosting Northwest at 7:00 PM.
