Leopards Downed By Vikings 45-28 – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting North Canton Hoover Vikings 45-28 Saturday Afternoon at Louisville High School. With the loss, Louisville drops to 12-5 on the season. 


Loy Leads Louisville With Team High 8

Jenny Can Cleaning AdSenior forward Kendal Loy scored a team high 8 points to lead the Lady Leopards. Senior forward Kelsey Adelman also added 7 and freshman shooting guard Courtney Barwick made a pair of three-pointers to finish with 6 for Louisville.

The two rivals exchanged the lead four times in the opening period before settling to a 7-7 tie at the end of one. After an exchange of baskets, the Leopards pulled out to a 13-9 lead with a little under three minutes to play before halftime.


Hoover Pulls Ahead with 15-0 Run

The Vikings would finish the quarter on a 13-0 run in response to take a 22-13 lead into the locker room. North Canton also scored to open the second half which ended their string of 15 straight points and put them ahead by double digits at 24-13. Louisville slightly cut into the Hoover lead by outscoring them 10-9 in the third quarter to trim the lead to 31-23.

My Fit Life Personal Trainer Side AdThe final stanza featured a string of runs. The Vikings scored the first five points of the fourth quarter to open up a 36-23 lead with 5:06 to play. The Leopards erased the run with a quick three by Barwick and a drive to the rack by Haren to trim the deficit back down to 36-28 just 41 seconds later.

North Canton’s defense clamped down after that and didn’t allow Louisville score the rest of the way. The Vikings ended the contest on a 9-0 run to save their largest lead of the game for the end. .  


Craig Pours in Game High 18 for Hoover

The Lady Vikings were led by junior center Grace Craig who poured in a game high 18 points. Junior forward Janet Eriksen made all 3 of Hoover’s three-pointers to finish in double figures with 11. Junior guard Lauren Rose also scored 8 and senior forward Angela Roshak added 6.


Vikings Win 12th Straight Vs. Leopards

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdThe Leopards have now dropped their last 12 meetings against the Vikings dating back to 1994. Hoover now leads the all-time series 23-21, which includes a 12-11 edge when playing at Louisville. 

The Lady Leopards are now 0-4 against Federal League foes this season who have accounted for all but one of their losses on the year. Louisville will look reverse this trend Wednesday when they travel to Lake.
