Schneider Strikes Out 11 in Shutout Victory
Sophomore pitcher Taylor Schneider was dominant in the circle, striking out 11 batters and allowing just six hits in a complete game shutout.
Schneider struck out the side in the bottom of the third, but surrendered a lead-off triple to Hoban’s Madison Shenigo to lead off the bottom of the fourth. Schneider retired the next three Knight batters in order, which included striking out the final two to end the inning.
A similar scenario emerged later as Hoban’s Gracelyn Schultz cracked a lead-off double to begin the last of the seventh. Schneider retired the final three Knight batters to clinch the shutout win.
Lead-off hits by Hoban in the second and sixth innings put runners into scoring position, but Schneider worked out of each of those jams unblemished.
The Knights’ greatest threat occurred in the sixth inning. Savannah Regan led off with a a double and Schneider walked the bases loaded with one out. However, an infield fly caught by second baseman Anna Sirohman and a fly out to Katelynn Miller in right field kept the goose egg on the Archbishop Hoban side of the scoreboard.
Schneider was backed by a flawless Leopards defense, which finished with a clean sheet.
Griffith Homers as Leopards Strike Early
The Leopards set the tone early with a 3-run first inning. After a Leah Claugus double, junior slugger Bailee Griffith crushed a 2-run homer to center field—her second of the season—to give Louisville a 2-0 lead.
Addy Campbell and Miller followed with back-to-back singles. Shae O’Neill then drove in courtesy runner Olivia Mongiardo on a fielder’s choice to make it 3-0.
Twinem Adds Insurance in 4th
The Lady Leopards tacked on one more in the fourth when Kaitlin Twinem delivered a 2-out RBI single to score Sirohman, who had been hit by a pitch to lead off the frame.
Louisville out-hit Hoban 8-6 in the win. Twinem went 2-for-4 with an RBI, Claugus also notched a pair of hits including a double, and Campbell added two singles.
Schultz and Shenigo Record Multi-Hit Games
The Lady Knights were led by Gracelyn Schultz and Madison Shenigo who each recorded two hits that included an extra base hit each. Regan added the only other extra base hit with a double and Elli Weigand singled to round out Hoban’s six hits as a team.
Schultz pitched a complete game throwing 7 innings, surrendering 3 earned runs on 8 hits, and striking out 6.

Louisville Snaps 3-Game Skid Vs. Hoban
The victory snaps the Lady Leopards three-game losing streak against the Knights. This marked Louisville’s first victory at Hoban after dropping the previous four head-to-head matchups in Akron dating back to 2007.
The Leopards still trail the all-time series 2-5. Louisville’s only other win over the Lady Knights was a 26-3 five-inning victory back in 2011.
