Twinem Homers, Sparks Leopards Offense
Junior shortstop Kaitlin Twinem led the charge for the Leopards both at the plate and on the basepaths. Twinem reached base in each of her first three plate appearances, walking twice and crushing a solo home run to center field in the fifth inning that put Louisville ahead 3-1. She also stole two bases and scored two of the team’s three runs.
Griffith 2-Run Double Puts Louisville in Front
The Leopards got on the board in the bottom of the third when Bailee Griffith roped a two-out double to center that drove home Destiny Hanze and Twinem, giving Louisville a 2-1 lead. Griffith finished 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs to lead the team in run production.
Louisville out-hit Marlington 6-3 for the game. The Lady Leopards also recorded base hits from Leah Claugus, Addy Campbell, Anna Sirohman, and Hanze.
Schneider Strikes Out 9, Goes the Distance
Sophomore pitcher Taylor Schneider threw another complete game in the circle for the Leopards, striking out nine and allowing just three hits and four earned runs across seven innings.
Schneider retired the side in order in the fourth and worked out of a major jam in the sixth. After walking the bases loaded, she struck out back-to-back Dukes batters to limit the damage.

Miller 2-Run Homer Completes Dukes Comeback
As Louisville attempted to escape a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the sixth inning, Chelsea Miller stole home to cut the deficit to 3-2. The Lady Leopards retired the side on the next pitch on a fly out to Claugus in center field.
Marlington quickly recorded two outs to begin the seventh, but Maria Walder extended the inning by drawing a five-pitch walk, bringing Miller back to the plate. With the Dukes down to their final out, Miller delivered the game’s biggest blow — crushing a 1-0 pitch over the left field fence for a go-ahead two-run homer that gave Marlington a stunning 4-3 lead.
Miller and Walder each finished 1-for-3 with two runs scored. Walder tripled earlier in the third and was driven in by Miller for the Dukes’ first run of the game. Delaney Martz added Marlington’s only other hit with a single in the second inning.
Doringo Strikes Out 8 in Complete Game Win
In the circle, Justine Doringo tossed a complete game for Marlington. She allowed 3 earned runs, 6 hits, and struck out 8 while in her seven innings of work. Doringo sent the Leopards down in order in the second and seventh inning to clinch a season opening victory for the Dukes.
