Varsity Recap | Scoring Summary
Daum’s Hat Trick Goal Ties Game Late for Leopards
Parker Daum led the Leopards with a hat trick and an assist in their playoff loss. Daum first scored in the opening quarter after fielding a ground ball near the crease and finishing to tie the game at 1-1. He added another unassisted goal with 16 seconds left in the third quarter to cut the Crusaders’ lead to 5-4.
Later, Daum delivered the game-tying goal with 4:08 left in regulation after taking the ball from behind the cage and scoring in front.
Daum also assisted on both of Mason Warner’s goals. His four-point night helped keep Louisville within striking distance throughout and nearly sent the Leopards on to the next round.
Warner Adds Pair of Goals for Louisville
Warner added 2 goals for Louisville. Warner’s first score came with 5:55 left in the second quarter off a Daum assist to give the Leopards their only lead of the game at 2-1. He struck again early in the third quarter, again off a Daum feed, to bring Louisville within a goal at 5-3.
Bogdan’s Hat Trick Helps Crusaders Take Control
Central Catholic used a big second quarter to seize momentum. After Louisville took a 2-1 lead on Mason Warner’s goal, the Crusaders answered with three straight scores in a span of just one minute to move in front 4-2 by halftime. Dominic Bogdan sparked that surge and finished with a hat trick, scoring twice in the second quarter and once more in the third via an assist from Vincent Sciarretti.
Patrick Sciarretti also recorded 3 first-half assists during the rally. He assisted Rowan Benjamin’s opening goal just 83 seconds into the game and then both of Bogdan’s second-quarter goals.
Mikulas Delivers Game-Winner with 26 Seconds Left
Louisville battled back and eventually pulled even when Daum scored the game-tying goal with 4:08 left in regulation. But the Crusaders had one final answer. Martin Mikulas scored off an assist from Jesio Inesfraza with just 26 seconds remaining to lift Central Catholic to the 6-5 victory.
The goal was Mikulas’ second of the night after scoring earlier in the second quarter via a pass from Bogdan.
This was also Mikulas’ second game-winner this season against the Leopards. He also delivered the golden goal in the Crusaders’ 9-8 double overtime victory earlier this season on April 21.
