Leopards Edge Perry on Senior Night, Snap Streak Vs. Panthers

Vince Burwell & Daniel Thompson Louisville Leopards Tennis

Louisville 3, Perry 2

The Louisville Leopards defeated the Perry Panthers 3-2 Monday evening for the first time since April 18, 1995.  The win moves Louisville to 15-3 on the season, which is the most wins for a Leopards Boys Tennis squad since they finished 15-2 in 2003.

The #2 Doubles team of Michael Thomas and Ryan Shepherd took care of business by winning in straight sets, however Louisville Beatty's Sports Baseball Shirt 2012 Spring Sports Logoshad to rally back for their two other wins.  In #3 Singles, Anthony Hoover fell to Adam Ranalli 6-3 in the opening set, battled back for a tie-breaking 7-6 (7-5) victory in the second set, before cruising to a 6-1 win in the final set to take the match.  Vince Burwell and Daniel Thompson faced a similar scenario in their #1 Doubles match after falling in their first set 6-3.  The team then rallied for a 7-5 victory in the second set and earned a solid 6-3 victory in the third set to take the match.

Louisville is now an even 14-14 against Perry all-time after snapping an 8-game losing streak against them.  Louisville will have a chance to win 16 games in a season for the fifth time in school history and first time since 1994 when they travel to Marlington to take on the Dukes on Wednesday, May 9.  More importantly the Leps will be playing Marlington for chance to clinch at least a share of the NBC Title.

Leopard Nation would like to thank Seniors Vince Burwell, Jackson Frazier, Travis Henderson, Anthony Hoover, Michael Thomas, and Dan Thompson for all the great memories.  We wish you luck as you go forth after graduation. Thank You Seniors!
