Lady Leopards Succumb to 2nd Half Rally at Jackson 50-44 – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the host Jackson Polar Bears 50-44 Monday Night at Jackson High School. With their third consecutive loss, Louisville drops to 13-7 on the season.

Barwick Registers Game High 16 to Lead Louisville
Junior Courtney Barwick hit a pair of three-pointers and scored 10 of her game high 16 points in the second half to lead the Lady Leopards. Senior Brooke Haren also finished in double figures with 11 and junior Chay Cline rounded out Louisville’s top scorers with 8.
Others getting on the board for the Leopards included sophomore Taylor McCully with 4, sophomore Sammi Beatty with a three-pointer, and senior Lexi Wasara who added 2.
Louisville trailed 9-8 at the end of the first quarter, but would outscore Jackson 17-11 in the second quarter to take a 25-20 advantage at the half. The Lady Bears outscored the Lady Leopards 21-8 in the third quarter to take control of the game before eventually picking up the 6-point victory.
Lahmers and Helle Lead Jackson Rally
Senior guard Ashley Lahmers scored 8 of her team high 13 points in the second half and freshman guard Ashley Helle scored all of her 11 points after halftime to lead the Jackson comeback. Helle made 3 of the Lady Bears’ 6 three-pointers in the game.
Other top scorers for Jackson included senior guard Megan Campbell with 9, sophomore guard Madison Lepley who tallied 7, and freshman guard Lexi Pizor who tacked on 6. Senior forward Sarah Herron and junior guard Emily Rofe also added a basket each.
The Federal League champion Polar Bears have now won 4 straight and improve to 17-3 on the season with the win.
Leopards Vs. Polar Bears Girls Basketball Series
Louisville has now fallen to Jackson in 9 consecutive meetings dating back to the 2012 Jackson Holiday Classic Championship. The Lady Leopards have now fallen in 8 straight road matchups against the Lady Bears in the series overall.
Louisville is now 15-27 against Jackson all-time dating back to their first meeting in 1975. The Lady Leopards are now 5-19 in the series when playing at Jackson High School.
Louisville is now 4-1 against Federal League opponents this season. They will face the other co-Federal League champion in Lake on Wednesday for Senior Night.
