Lady Leopards Late Rally Falls Short Against Jackson 4-3 – Softball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Softball Team rallied with two runs in the seventh, but fell to the visiting Jackson Polar Bears 4-3 Tuesday evening at West Main Vet Clinic Field. With the loss, Louisville drops to an even 6-6 on the season.

Louisville Varsity Leopards’s effort to come back from down four runs in the third inning came up just short, as they fell 4-3 to Jackson Varsity Polar Bears on Tuesday. Louisville Varsity Leopards closed the gap by scoring on an error and an error.
A solo home run to left field by Madi McGuire put Jackson Varsity Polar Bears on the board in the top of the second.
Jackson Varsity Polar Bears extended their early lead with three runs in the top of the third thanks to home runs by Remi Grooms and Avery Wile.
Katelynn Miller pitched four and one-third innings in relief for Louisville Varsity Leopards. The hurler gave up one hit and zero runs while, striking out nine and walking two. Taylor Schneider took the loss for Louisville Varsity Leopards. The hurler went two and two-thirds innings, surrendering four runs on four hits, striking out three and walking two. Wile led things off in the circle for Jackson Varsity Polar Bears. The hurler allowed three hits and three runs (one earned) over seven innings, striking out six and walking three.
Hayden Kerr led the team with one run batted in. Mara Mayle went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Louisville Varsity Leopards in hits. Louisville Varsity Leopards were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Addy Campbell had the most chances in the field with 15.
Wile provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jackson Varsity Polar Bears with two runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Grooms led Jackson Varsity Polar Bears with two hits in four at bats. Jackson Varsity Polar Bears turned one double play in the game.
Next up for Louisville Varsity Leopards is a game against Archbishop Hoban Varsity Knights on Wednesday.

Louisville Junior Varsity Leopards could not keep up with Jackson 7-3 on Tuesday.
Jackson opened the scoring in the first after Camryn Talenda singled, scoring two runs.
Jackson added to their early lead in the bottom of the third inning after Louisville Junior Varsity Leopards committed an error, and Talenda grounded out, each scoring one run.
Talenda earned the win for Jackson. The hurler gave up three hits and three runs over five innings, striking out eight and walking four. Lyla Kandel took the loss for Louisville Junior Varsity Leopards. The starting pitcher went six innings, giving up seven runs (five earned) on 10 hits, striking out 10 and walking none.
Aubree Bell, Ayverie Meister, and Reagan Samblanet each collected one hit for Louisville Junior Varsity Leopards. Payton Hamilton and Bell each drove in one run for Louisville Junior Varsity Leopards.
Jackson tallied 10 hits in the game. Talenda provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Jackson with three runs batted in. The pitcher went 1-for-3 on the day. Luci Christopher and G Hoy each collected two hits for Jackson.
