Lady Leopards Can’t Overcome Early Deficit Vs. Polar Bears 45-27 – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team fell to the visiting Jackson Polar Bears 45-33 Wednesday night at Louisville High School. The loss ends the Lady Leopards’ three-game winning streak, dropping them to 8-12 on the season.

Barwick Leads Louisville with Team-High 15 Points
Courtney Barwick scored 13 of her team-high 15 points in the second half to lead Louisville. Maggie Baker also scored 8 as the Leopards outscored the Polar Bears 25-16 in the final two quarters. Both Barwick and Baker hit two three-pointers each.
Mabel Kiko and Ella Tillett both added 4 points apiece. Karis Miglich rounded out the scoring with a fourth quarter basket.
Lepley Leads Jackson with Game-High 23
Maddie Lepley scored 15 of her game-high 23 points in the opening half to lead Jackson. The Polar Bears opened the game with a 13-0 run and built a commanding 29-8 halftime lead. Lepley made three of her five three-pointers in the first half.
Talia Russell also made a pair of three-pointers and finished with 8. Jackson hit nine three-pointers as a team.
Other scorers for the Polar Bears included Ava Kouri with 7, Emily Rofe with 4, and Taylor Prewitt with 3.
With the win, Jackson extends its winning streak to five games and improves to 15-5 on the season.
Polar Bears Win 10th Straight Against Leopards
The Lady Leopards have now dropped 10 straight meetings against the Lady Bears since 2012, including three home losses. The Lady Leopards last victory over Jackson came in the 2011 season finale, a 47-44 Louisville home victory.
The Lady Leopards are now 15-28 against the Lady Polar Bears all-time, but Louisville still holds a winning mark of 10-9 in games played at LHS in the series.
