Jackson Polar Bears at Louisville Leopards Girls Basketball 2011

Louisville 47, Jackson 44

To say Senior Night at Louisville High School would be unforgettable would be an understatement.  The Lady Leopards (18-2) shut down the Jackson Polar Bears (9-10) twice in the final 15 seconds to escape with a 47-44 victory Wednesday night.  Senior Alyssa Jones led all scorers with 18 points for the Leopards and senior Lauren Bricker also dropped in 8 to lead Louisville.

The Lady Leps led by 2 with just 20 seconds remaining when Leopards point guard Mackenzie Storlie was called for a charge.  Jackson flurried down the court and put up a shot.  The ball hung on the rim, before slowly falling off. Clara Lemmon pulled down the rebound for the Leps with just seconds remaining.

“It was like sitting on the rim for like five seconds it felt like,” said Senior Leopard Desi Givens.

Lemmon hit 1 of 2 free throws to give the Lady Leps a three-point advantage.  Then Jackson stormed down the court and put up a game-tying three-ball, but it missed.  The Lady Leopards survived with a 47-44 victory and the Seniors won their final home game.

Congratulations to Lauren Bricker, Desi Givens, Alyssa Jones, and Amanda Sims on great careers for the Lady Leps!
