DI Alliance District Boys Basketball Tournament Bracket 2017
The Louisville Leopards Boys Basketball Team was voted the 5th Seed for Sunday’s DI Alliance District Tournament Draw. They elected to take a bye in the Sectional Semifinals and will travel to face the 3rd Seed Boardman Spartans on Saturday, March 4 at 7:00 PM in the DI Alliance Sectional Finals.
The Leopards and Spartans met at Boardman during the regular season back on January 17, 2017. The Spartans won 59-54 in a back and forth affair. Louisville is 7-16 against Boardman all-time dating back to 1933 when they were both Tri-County League members.
The only time the two teams have played during the postseason came on February 27, 2012. This was the first year that the Leopards entered Division I and the Alliance District. Boardman also won that Sectional Semifinal game 64-60 at Harry Fails Gymnasium.
Louisville elected to go away from the top side of the bracket that included top seeded Akron Ellet as well as 4th seed Warren G. Harding. If they win at Boardman, they will likely face the 2nd Seed Lake Blue Streaks in the DI District Semifinals on Thursday, March 9 at Alliance High School. The Leopards are 12-18 against the Blue Streaks all-time, but have won the last two match-ups. Their most recent meeting was the memorable Senior Night 62-59 overtime win last season when Jake Pukys hit the game winner. The two squads will also face off at Lake on February 21 in the final game of the regular season.
Since 1932, Louisville is 50-80 all-time in tournament play.
