The Louisville Leopards Boys Golf Team competed at the Lake Invitational Monday at Congress Lake Club. The Leopards shot 352 as a team in placing 13th out of a prestigious field of 19 teams.

Re-Elect Corey Street Louisville City Council AdSophomore Cole Miller shot a team low 86 to lead Louisville. Miller tied with teammate Zach Root for a team best 43 on the front nine and matched that total with another 43 on the back nine. Root and fellow sophomore Jack Mayle both carded an 88 for LHS. Mayle also shot a team low 42 on the back nine in the process.

Junior Sam Karcher rounded out the Leopard scoring with a 90. Junior Caleb Harsh also tallied 109 as Louisville’s only other participant.

“We didn’t play terrible, but they weren’t willing to accept the performance. These boys are so close to breaking through, they just have to learn how to minimize damage, how to avoid trouble on the course, and how to put bad breaks, shots, and luck behind them. They are getting better, but not quite there. It’s gonna happen and it’s going to be so much fun when it does, because the first breakthrough team performance leads to many more!”

St. Ignatius Takes Title Over Hoban on Tie-Break

Lingenhoel Group - Arden and Lisa Lingenhoel - Cutler Real Estate AdSt. Ignatius Wildcats Gold won the invitational on a fifth man tie-break against the Archbishop Hoban Knights who also shot 306 as a team. Hoban’s Jack Vojtko was the tournament medalist after shooting a 4 under par 67, which included tying for a tournament low 35 on the front nine and finishing with a tournament best 32 on the back nine.

Jake Ryn was the individual runner-up for the Knights as well in finishing with par 71 and Camden Horning carded a 1 over par 72 for the Lake Blue Streaks in placing third. Both Ryn and Horning matched Vojtko with a tournament leading 35 on the front nine.

The Green Bulldogs also won a fifth man tie-break by a single stroke over St. Ignatius Wildcats Blue to claim third. St. Ignatius finished with 6 golfers in the top 12 between their two squads, which also included 2 from each Wildcat team in the top 6.
