Olmsted Falls blocked Louisville’s game-winning field goal attempt in the final seconds to defeat the Leopards 21-20 in a heartbreaking DII Playoff contest back on November 8, 2002.
Despite losing their star runningback, the Leopards grouped together to demolish the Dukes 35-3 to clinch their fourth straight NBC Title. Louisville out-gained Marlington 362-87 and had more first downs by a count of 25-6.
Marc Zustin had 3 interceptiosn including a pick six to lead Louisville to a 33-0 shutout win at Carrollton. The Leopards Defensive Line helped produce 4 fumbles, 13 tackles for loss, and 2 sacks during the win.
Louisville rallied to scored three touchdowns in the final 12:40 to down host Northwest 21-7. The Leopard defense recorded 3 of their 5 takeaways in the fourth quarter to help clinch the win.
Gary Whaley’s three touchdown passes helped build a 29-0 Leopard lead as the Louisville defense shutout West Branch until late in the fourth during a 29-12 victory back on September 27, 2002.
Runningbacks Mike Batdorff and Curtis Elsass combined for 5 touchdowns as the Leopards racked up 302 yards on the ground in 56-14 rout of Kent Roosevelt. Justin Boudler also caught two touchdown passes from Gary Whaley.
