Warner Throws 2-Hit Shutout as Leopards Blank Wildcats on Senior Night – Baseball

The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team shutout the visiting Canton South Wildcats for Senior Night Thursday Evening at Andy Aljancic Field. With the victory, Louisville improves to 16-9 on the season.

Warner Fans 7 in 2-Hit Shutout
Senior starting pitcher Anthony Warner thew a two-hit shutout and struck out seven to lead the Leopards to victory on Senior Night. Warner retired the first 17 Canton South batters he faced as he carried a perfect game into the sixth inning of action.
Wildcats senior right fielder Blake Kennedy broke up Warner’s bid for the third perfect game in Louisville Baseball history with a two-out base hit in the fifth. His line drive single to center fell to the turf just outside of the reach of senior shortstop JT Popick, who made a diving effort on the play.
Canton South senior catcher Clay Mitchell also registered an infield hit with two outs in the seventh for Warner’s only other blemish. However, he struck out the next batter to end the contest. Warner is now a perfect 6-0 on the season in seven games started.
Four Leopards Finish with Multiple Hits
The Leopards out-hit the Wildcats 12-2 for the game. Senior third baseman Caleb Miller led Louisville at the plate by batting 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Junior designated hitter Karson Siegfried also finished a perfect 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles, an RBI, and three runs scored.
Four different Leopards finished with multi-hit games. Senior catcher Walker Kandel went 2-for-4 at the plate with a double and a two-run single that put Louisville on the board first in the bottom of the second. Senior left field Connor Adelman also went 2-for-4 with an RBI single during the Leopards four-run fourth inning. Junior center fielder Charlie Roberts came home on Adelman’s single after tripling home Popick in the at-bat before.
Senior right fielder Zack Seaman also drove in sophomore courtesy runner Andrew Corona earlier in the second inning to round out the Louisville offensive highlights.
