The Louisville Leopards Varsity Baseball Team earned a 10-2 road victory against the host New Philadelphia Quakers Friday Night at Tuscora Park. With their third straight victory, Louisville heads into the tournament with a record of 17-9.

Leopards Capture First Advantage in Third
The Leopards struck first with a pair of runs in the third inning. Senior shortstop JT Popick reached base on an error and advanced to second on junior center fielder Charlie Roberts’ five-pitch walk. Popick then snagged third on a wild pitch before scoring on an error by the Quaker catcher. That gave Louisville a 1-0 advantage before they had registered a hit.
That first hit came in the next at-bat when junior designated hitter Karson Siegfried singled to center field bringing home Roberts to expand their lead to 2-0.
Louisville Takes Command with Five-Run Fifth
New Philadelphia got on the board in the bottom of the third. With two outs, third baseman Brenton Billman reached on an error scoring pitcher Ayden Baker from second to cut the Leopard lead in half at 2-1.
Neither team scored in the fourth inning before Louisville erupted for five runs in the fifth frame. The Leopards tallied four of their seven hits for the game in the inning starting with back-to-back singles by senior right fielder Zack Seaman and Popick to begin the frame. Roberts made it a third straight base hit with an RBI singles to left field that plated Seaman. Then Popick scored on a passed ball to put Louisville ahead 4-1.
Next sophomore first baseman Cole Miller hit a two-run single to right bringing home Roberts and Siegfried. Miller took second base courtesy of an error on the play, advanced to third via senior third baseman Caleb Miller’s groundout to first, and then came home on a wild pitch to put the Leopards in command 7-1.
Leopards Take Advantage of Quaker Miscues
Louisville continued to take advantage of Quaker miscues in the sixth inning. Junior courtesy runner Caleb Harsh and Popick both scored on wild pitches to put the Leopards ahead 9-1. Junior pinch hitter Kyle Vesely also delivered an RBI single scoring senior pinch hitter Derek Lizer in the seventh to give LHS a 10-1 advantage.
New Philadelphia committed seven errors during the contest and threw six wild pitches.
Morley Strikes Out Four to Earn Third Win
Junior starting pitcher Connor Morley threw six innings gave up one unearned run on three hits and struck out four to lead the Leopards on the hill. Morley improves to 3-2 on the season with the victory.
The Quakers only other run came in the last of the seventh. Right fielder Elliott Warner hit a two-out single bringing in pitcher/first baseman Carter Vandall to make the final tally 10-2.
