Lady Leopards Hot Start Propels Them to Win Over Boardman 51-46 – Girls Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Girls Varsity Basketball Team defeated the visiting Boardman Spartans 51-46 Wednesday Night at Louisville High School. With their first victory of the season, Louisville improves to 1-2 on the year.

Haren Scores Team High 17 for Leopards
Junior Brooke Haren scored from the field in every quarter for the Lady Leopards on her way to a team high 17 points. Senior Taryn Miglich also poured in 14 and freshman Taylor McCully added 11.
Miglich hit a pair of three-pointers in the first quarter as Louisville opened up a 14-0 lead at the onset. The Lady Leopards would have shutout the Spartans in the opening period if sophomore Sara Bero had not hit a buzzer beater to end the opening stanza.
Riccitelli Leads Spartans with Game High 18
Junior point guard Mackenzie Riccitelli scored 14 of her game high 18 points in the second half to lead Boardman. She also hit all three of the Spartan’s three-pointers in the third quarter.
Other top scores for Boardman included senior Gia Triveri who reached double figures with 10 and senior Bella Martin who added 6.
The Lady Spartans rallied back to knot the game at 24-all with an 8-0 run to start the second half. Louisville answered back with an 8-0 run of their own before Boardman cut the deficit to 32-30. The Lady Leopards pulled ahead 38-30 by the end of the third.
The Spartans rallied again to shrink the Louisville lead to 42-40 with 3:43 left in the contest. That would be as close as Boardman would get as the Lady Leopards responded with a 9-4 run that was capped off by Miglich’s third three-pointer of the night from the right corner.

The Lady Leopards have now defeated the Lady Spartans in four straight meetings. Louisville is 4-1 against Boardman all-time, which includes an undefeated 2-0 record when the Lady Leopards host the Spartans.
