Aljancic Reaches 1000 Points as Leopards Demolish Falcons 70-36 – Boys Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team upended the visiting Austintown Fitch Falcons 70-36 Tuesday Night at Louisville High School. With their fourth straight victory, Louisville improves to 4-2 on the season.

Aljancic Joins 1000th Point Club
Senior wing Will Aljancic poured in a game high 30 points in first three quarters to lead the Leopards. Aljancic would bury all four of his three-pointers in the third period, a quarter in which he scored 17 points alone.
Earlier in the contest, Aljancic received a pass from senior guard Kyle Vesely on the left wing and dribbled to the basket past a pair of Fitch defenders. The layup with 2:10 left in the opening quarter put Aljancic at 1000 points for his varsity career.

Aljancic is the fourth Leopard to join the 1000 point club in the history of the program. He now has scored 1,024 points tying him for third all-time in Louisville Basketball History with Bob Gladieux (1962-1965). Aljancic needs 122 to tie the career record set by Chris Libertore (2013-2017).

Nigro Leads Leopards in Opening Half
Junior guard Hayden Nigro scored 14 of his 18 points in the first half for the Leopards. Sophomore forward Brayden Gross also added 7 points, 5 of which came in the opening quarter.
Louisville jumped out to a 19-6 lead at the end of the first quarter and pulled ahead 37-15 by halftime. The Leopards erupted for 26 points in the third quarter to take a commanding 63-29 advantage heading into the final stanza. Each team scored 7 points in the final quarter with the clock running throughout as the mercy rule was invoked when the margin reached 35.
Finkley & Maley Lead Falcons
Sophomore shooting guard Marcel Finkley and senior point guard Gianni Maley both reached double figures with 10 points each to lead the Falcons. Sophomore shooting guard Carter Owens rounded out the Falcons top scorers scoring all 5 of his points in the second half.
Louisville Vs. Austintown Fitch Basketball History
Louisville has now defeated Austintown Fitch in each of their past three meetings. The Leopards now lead the all-time series 7-1 overall, which includes an undefeated 4-0 mark when playing the Falcons at home in the series.
Louisville had to rally from a 14-point fourth quarter deficit to squeak out a 60-56 win at Austintown Fitch a year ago. This season the Leopards dominated the Falcons from start to finish.
