The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team dismantled the host Marlington Dukes 67-29 Tuesday night at Marlington High School. With the victory, Louisville improves to 8-7 on the season.

Dougherty Leads Leopards with Game-High 11

West Main Vet Clinic AdColton Dougherty scored 8 of his game-high 11 points in the first half as the Leopards opened up a 42-11 halftime advantage. Dougherty hit a pair of three-pointers in the opening half and scored in every quarter, while also pulling down 3 rebounds.


Sanders Posts Double-Double for Louisville

Gionino's Pizzeria Oakwood - Mobile AdBrandon Sanders posted 10 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double for Louisville. He scored all his points in the paint, dished out a game-high 3 assists, and also recorded 3 steals on defense.

Cohen Rogers and Drake Wilson both hit a pair of three-pointers and scored all 10 of their points before the third-quarter buzzer sounded. The Leopards led 55-22 at the end of the third quarter and outscored Marlington 12-7 in the final stanza to earn their most lopsided victory of the season. Rogers grabbed 4 rebounds, while Wilson amassed a game-best 5 steals.


Baker Leads Leopards on the Glass

Jake Baker led Louisville on the glass with a game-high 11 rebounds to go along with 4 points and a block.

Twelve different Louisville players found the scorebook during the contest. Luke Boldon scored 5 and Noah Ickes added 4. Max Mathie, Gabe Stoffer, and Chase Wilson scored 3 points each. Blake Carr and Cody Zahler rounded out the Louisville scoring with a basket each in the second quarter.

Evanich Scores Team-High 8 to Lead Dukes

Cameron Evanich made a pair of three-pointers in the third quarter and finished with a team-high 8 points to go along with 4 rebounds to lead the Dukes. Carter Frank also scored 6 points and recorded team-highs of 5 rebounds and 2 blocks.

Matt Baldwin scored all 4 of his points in the fourth quarter and Ti’Jean Pridgeon also scored all 3 of his points in the fourth quarter. Brady Denham made Marlington’s only other three-pointer, also in the third quarter. Bryson Jones and Cole Jones also added 2 points each. Braydon Ellis rounded out the Duke scoring by splitting a pair of free throws in the second quarter for his only points.

Marlington has now dropped 3 straight games and their last 4 games played at home. The Dukes are now 3-10 on the season.


Louisville Holds Marlington to Series Low

Louisville has now won 4 straight against Marlington and has taken 11 of the last 12 in the series overall. The Leopards now lead the all-time series 76-40, which includes a 34-22 record when playing on the road in the series. Louisville has won 7 of their last 8 games played at Marlington.

The 29 points tie a series low for either team. The Leopards also beat the Dukes at home 48-29 on December 18, 2001.

The 38-point margin of victory marks the fourth-largest win in the series by Louisville. Four of the Leopards’ five widest margins of victory over the Dukes have come in the past four meetings.

Heading Into the Final Stretch

The Leopards will be battle-tested heading into the tournament. They will next face five consecutive parochial schools before concluding the regular season with back-to-back games against Federal League opponents.

UP NEXT: The Leopards will next travel to Lakewood to take on the St. Edward Eagles on Friday, January 23. Freshman will begin at 4:30 PM, JV will follow around 6:00 PM, and Varsity will conclude the night with an approximate 7:00 PM start.
