Leopards Win 6th Straight, Take Care of Business Vs. Dukes 86-50 – Boys Basketball

The Louisville Leopards Boys Varsity Basketball Team mauled the visiting Marlington Dukes 86-50 Tuesday Night at Louisville High School. Louisville has yet to lose since they returned from their trip to California, now winning six straight to improve to 11-4 on the season.

Siegfried & Aljancic Combine for 43
Beau Siegfried poured in a game-high 22 points and Tate Aljancic dropped in 21 points to lead the Leopards.
Siegfried directed the offense by dishing out 8 assists and also hauled in 4 rebounds. He hit 4 of his 6 three-pointers in the second half, scoring 14 points after halftime.
Aljancic scored 19 of his 21 points in the opening half as Louisville took a commanding 47-34 lead into the half. The Leopards led 19-13 at the end of the first quarter before exploding for 28 points in the second quarter. Aljancic made both of his three-pointers in the second period and scored 11 points in that stanza. He also recorded 6 rebounds in the game.
Andrejcik & Gross Score 14 Each for Louisville
Nine different Louisville players scored during the contest, including four in double figures. Avery Andrejcik and Brayden Gross would score 14 points each to be amongst that grouping.
Andrejcik hit 3 of the Leopards’ 7 three-pointers in the second quarter and matched Aljancic with 11 points in the second quarter. Andrejcik would hit another three-ball in the third quarter to finish with 4 of Louisville’s 13 three-pointers on the night.
Gross scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half to help the Leopards seal the victory over the Dukes. Louisville outscored Marlington 20-8 in the third quarter and 19-8 in the fourth to put the game away. Gross alone matched the Dukes’ fourth quarter total, scoring all 8 of his points from the field.
Devin Bailey also scored 6, Kolton Loy added 4, and Ashton Marshall tacked on 2. Gabe Stoffer added a basket and Colton Dougherty split a pair of free throws coming in off the bench in the fourth quarter.
Woods and Evanich Lead Marlington
Parker Woods scored 13 of his team-high 14 points in the first half to lead Marlington. Cam Evanich also registered 9 of his 12 points in the second half. The pair combined for 22 in the first half, but the Leopards’ defense limited the duo to 4 points in the second half.
Sam Yoder also made a pair of three-pointers and scored 8. Other Duke scorers included: Brady Denham 6, Carter Frank 4, Dylan Heatherington 4, and Bryce Jones 2.
Marlington had won 3 of their last 4 coming into the night, but they fall to 10-7 on the season with the loss.
Leopards Vs. Dukes Boys Basketball Series
The Leopards have now defeated the Dukes in three consecutive meetings and 14 of their last 16 matchups dating back to 2014. This is Louisville’s fifth straight win over Marlington at home.
The Leopards now lead the all-time series 75-40 overall, which includes a 40-16 record when playing at Louisville in the series. Head Coach Tom Siegfried improved his record to 18-12 in 30 matchups against the Dukes. He has coached against Marlington more than any other opponent during his tenure.
The Leopards are now 2-0 against EBC foes after already defeating West Branch 79-56 earlier this month. Louisville will host Alliance this Saturday, February 1, and then travel to Northwest on February 11 to round out their schedule against former NBC opponents.
